Someone once asked me how I could love them if I didn’t really know them…and honestly, I am not certain I can explain it.

But I will try.

Some people (me) arrive on this earth with an innate capacity to love…and forgive…and love more. I thank God every day that I am one of those lucky people.

I have had my fair share of disappointments, betrayals, and more – by people I trusted and loved, people who I thought had my back. But I was wrong, and stuff happens, and I found myself – each time – angry, hurt, and more…but totally incapable of hating that person. Heck, I still “luv” my ex-husband for the 6 wonderful children he gave me. Obviously, it wasn’t all wonderful or we wouldn’t be divorced, but I choose to focus on the happy, the good things that happened during the time we were together.

I understand that this is very difficult for many people, but I would challenge you to try…try to love, even when they might not deserve to be loved.

This LOVE I am talking about doesn’t mean you have to be all sickeningly sweet and gushy, or even be their best friend, or a friend at all. This LOVE I am talking about frees you to move forward with YOUR life. It’s for you, almost more than it’s for them.

LOVE is a powerful emotion. It can heal broken hearts, soothe injured egos, and repair broken relationships. Love and forgiveness often go hand-in-hand, so both are important, but if you can learn to LOVE the person, in spite of anything, you will also be able to forgive. And isn’t that amazing?

What love can do for you and for others is miraculous, and all it takes is less pride and more joy. The Danny Gokey song says it all:

Lyrics: WHAT LOVE CAN DO
From the first breath we take
Twenty-seven thousand days
Or something like that
They say it’s all that we have
Don’t you throw your life away
It’s too beautiful to waste
On anything
Anything else but love
Only one thing changes everything
Only one sure cure for every pain
The answer’s right there waiting for you to chose
It doesn’t cost you anything
But your world will never be the same
Take it from me, ’cause I am the living proof
That’s what love can, do-oo-oo, do-oo-oo-oo
I am the living proof (I am the living proof)
That’s what love can, do-oo-oo, do-oo-oo-oo
I am the living proof (I am the living proof)
That’s what love can do
A word we rarely understand
Holds the key to the heart of man
It can shatter the darkness
And it can heal every soul
Once you’ve tasted heaven’s love
Nothing else will be enough
You’ll want more everyday
You’ll want to give it away
Only one thing changes everything
Only one sure cure for every pain
The answer’s right there waiting for
You to choose (Waiting for you to choose)
And it doesn’t cost you anything
But your world will never be the same
Take it from me
I’m the living proof
That’s what love can
Do-oo-oo, do-oo-oo-oo
I am the living proof
That’s what love can do
It’s what makes the world go ’round
It’s what makes the lost get found
I’m your living proof
That’s what love can do, yeah
It’s what makes the world go ’round
It’s what makes the lost get found
I’m your living proof
That’s what love can do, oh-oh
It doesn’t cost you anything
But your world will never be the same
Take it from me
I’m your living proof
That’s what love can do
It can do, it can do, oh, it can do
(That’s what love can do) Oh-ah-oh
(That’s what love can do) Oh-ah-oh
Take it from me
Oh-ah-oh, I am the living proof
That’s what love can do
That’s what love can do

I have found that every person I have every met – even for the very first time (to address my opening line) has something wonderful about them, something I can easily love about them. We are all children of a loving heavenly father, brothers and sisters if you will, and as family, we need to love one another.

LOVE MORE. AND IT WILL COME BACK TO YOU TEN-FOLD. I PROMISE.

LOVE MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND. IT REALLY DOES.

LOVE IS FREE, AND YET HAS IMMEASURABLE VALUE.

NEVER GIVE UP ON LOVE.

And, yes, I really do love you. As a fellow human being. As a brother or sister doing exactly what I am doing, trying to live the best life. Thank you for visiting my blog.
